IT Delivery Manager
£80,000 – £90,0000 + bonus and benefits
Based in Birmingham w/ remote working (Very Flexible)
Our client, a UK leader in insurance and services, is undertaking a significant and strategically vital rebuild of a core technology platform in 2021. To support this, they are pulling together a team of experts to facilitate the in-house design and build of a bespoke solution, and the Development Manager will play a key part of the project’s technical leadership, overseeing the design and build of the engineering team and owning the relationships with architecture, testing, and the wider business.
What you’ll be doing
As the Delivery Manager, you will take ownership of the build and management of the on-shore and off-shore development teams, embedding best practice (including standardisation, reusability, etc.), coaching individual team members, and ensuring all staff are cross trained as necessary.
You’ll be working closely with technical & business stakeholders and external delivery partners to ensure alignment across requirements and high-quality outputs. Providing and challenging estimates for changes; managing resources and delivery plans, inputting into product architecture, testing, and providing intelligent input into the full end to end process.
You will also be representing Delivery into project meetings, steer Co’s and the C-Suite.
Your background and experience
To really feel at home in this role, you’ll be comfortable as a true leader, not just managing resources and plans, but coaching and guiding, influencing, and sharing both knowledge and a vision in a compelling and engaging way.
You’ll have experience designing and building delivery teams and owning large scale design-build-deploy processes utilising both waterfall and agile methodologies. Experienced with cloud environments (preferably Azure) and Microsoft development technologies, and aware of the nuances and challenges involved in reverse engineering core legacy platforms.
You’ll be confident working with a blend of in house and delivery partner resource, able to manage these relationships in a manner that allows for healthy challenging and debate as well as smooth collaboration.
An appreciation of real-time scheduling technology would be highly beneficial.
In return you’ll get…
A good salary, excellent package, and job security in a flexible working environment. But, beyond that, you’ll also be working with great people through a genuinely exciting period for the organisation as they undertake sweeping modernisations across infrastructure, data, and digital. This position is part of the leadership on the most high-profile programme on the 21/22 agenda, and as such will provide significant opportunity for recognition and reward.
